COVID-19 Groceries Support – 1892 Families

  • 3 months Groceries to 10 families: Handed groceries – Rice, dal, cooking oil, spices and other items to 10 families in Rajam, Srikakulam district, AP. They perform in multi-talent shows through Swayamkrushi Divyangula Talent show organization. They are impacted due to COVID-19. (October 2021).
  • 15 days Groceries to 1150 tribal families: Handed groceries – 10 kgs rice, 2 kgs dal, cooking oil, spices and other items to 1150 tribal families in 36 tribal hamlets in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, AP. These are families impacted due to COVID-19. (September 2021).
  • 15 days Groceries to 100 tribal families: Handed groceries – 15 kgs rice, cooking oil, dal, wheat floor, spices and other items to 100 tribal families in Araku Village, Vishakapatnam, AP. These are families impacted due to COVID-19. (August 2021).
  • 1 month Groceries to 311 families: Handed groceries – 15 kgs rice, cooking oil, toor dal, urid dal, wheat floor, ravva, jaggery, tamarind, spices, vegetables and other items to 311 families in Nutakki, Guntur (district), AP. These are all senior citizens, impacted due to COVID-19. Thanks to Dr. Venugopal Reddy(VGR) for supporting this activity. (July 2021).
  • 15 days Groceries to 100 families: Handed groceries – 10 kgs rice, toor dal, urid dal, wheat floor, cooking oil, pulses, spices, vegetables and other items to 100 families from brahmin community in Guntur. All of them are impacted due to COVID-19 lockdown. Thanks a lot Ravi Kumar Remani, Chalapathi Emani, Lingesh Rajori for supporting this activity. (July 2021).
  • 1 month Groceries to 51 families: Handed groceries – 25 kgs rice, dal, peanut oil, wheat floor, tamarind, jaggery, spices, and other items to 51 families at Nutakki, AP. These are priests at temples in Nutakki and surrounding villages. They are impacted due to COVID-19 lockdown. (June 2021).
  • 15 days Groceries to 100 families: Handed groceries – 10kgs atta, 2kgs rice, dal, cooking oil, spices and other items to 100 families in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. They are impacted due to COVID-19 lockdown. Thanks to Parul and family for the support. Thanks to Samyak for organizing the event. (May 2021).
  • 1 month Groceries to 50 families: Handed groceries – 25 kgs rice, dal, cooking oil, idly ravva, upma ravva, blackgram, greengram, tamarind, jaggery, spices and other items to 50 families at Palli Karnai, Madras, Tamilnadu. They are all impacted due to COVID-19. (Jan 2021).

Tribal Health Clinic, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Telangana

  • Supporting a tribal health clinic. Supporting a health clinic with a doctor and community health worker. Tribal people utilizing this clinic as their go to hospital for any medical needs. Basic health care is given here. Many health issues are being identified early. If it’s critical, they are admitted to the local government hospital, which could be 50-80 miles away. This clinic is serving 50 tribal hamlets with total population of 10000. This is saving lives. Supporting the clinic since Aug 2020. (Aug 2020 – Dec 2021)

Tribal Community Health Worker Training

  • Trained 50 community health workers 3 days a month from January to December 2021 in all areas of medical care so that they can provide basic health care services in tribal hamlets. This is saving lives. Supporting this program since Jan 2021. (Jan 2021 – Dec 2021).
  • Handed a projector to IDO to use it during health worker training. (Jan 2021).

COVID-19 Support – Medical Supplies

  • Medical Supplies to Government General Hospital: Handed 80 oxygen flow meters, 25,000 surgical masks, 2,600 N95 masks, 10,000 gloves to Government General Hospital, Vijayawada in collaboration with VGR trust. Thanks to Dr. Srinivas Reddy, Ravi Remani, Chalapathi Emani, Lingesh Rajori, Sudhakar Bommu and Ashok Kallam for supporting this activity. (May 2021).
  • 1000 Covid Medicine Kits: Handed 700 covid medicine kits to Indian Red Cross Society and 300 kits to Primay Health Center, Nutakki. Each kit contains life saving medicines for Covid positive patients that are in isolation at home. This was done in collaboration with VGR trust. (May 2021).
  • 20 beds to Government Covid Isolation Center: Handed 20 iron beds and mattresses to government covid isolation center at Punadhipadu, Krishna district, AP. Thanks to VGR trust for coordinating this. (June 2021).

Protein Powder to 350 Malnourished Tribal Children/Mothers (Bhadradri Kothagudem, Telangana)

  • Protein Powder to children, pregnant women and lactating mothers: Started providing protein powder supplement to children, pregnant women and lactating mothers in 16 tribal hamlets in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Telangana. Severe malnutrition is observed in children and women in these interior forest habitations. Identified 350 children and women. Each one is given 60grams of protein powder per day at a set time by a health volunteer (total 1.8kgs of protein powder is given to each person per month). Progress is closely monitored and measured every 3 months. Thanks to all our donors for supporting this program. Thanks to Dr. Naren and Dr. Kapil Sharma for leading this program (Protein powder is made with roasted Bengal gram, peanuts, wheat, jowar and jaggery).This is saving lives. This is an ongoing program since May 2020.

Matruchaya Orphanage (Nutakki, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh)

  • Groceries: Handed groceries to Matruchaya to support them for a month (45 liters cooking oil, 25kgs urid dal, 50kgs sanagalu, 30kgs greengram, 30kgs alasandalu, 25kgs ragulu, 33kgs jaggery, 15kgs tamarind and other items). (April 2021).
  • After School Snacks: Continuing the after school snacks program that was started in Jan 2019, providing heathy, nutritious snacks to kids. (Jan-Dec 2021).
  • Milk for Health: Continuing milk for health program that was started in Jan 2019, providing each kid with a cup of milk per day. (Jan-Dec 2021).

Surabhi families have been performing stage dramas for the last 135 years. They are impacted due to COVID-19 lockdown. (Sep 2020).
  • 1 month Groceries to 30 weaver families: Handed groceries – 25 kgs rice, dal, cooking oil, ravva, pulses, spices and other items to 30 weaver families from Lingala Ghanapur, Janagaon, Telangana. They make Pochampalli sarees. They are all impacted due to COVID-19 lockdown. (Sep 2020).
  • 15 days Groceries to 200 tribal families: Handed groceries to 200 tribal families in interior forest habitations near Bhadradri Kothagudem, Telangana. These people do not have any income at the moment due to COVID-19 and are in need of groceries. Each family was given 10kgs rice, dal, cooking oil and other groceries. Thanks to all our donors and supporters. Thanks to our Dr. Naren, Dr. Kapil Sharma and IDO team for distributing groceries. (11th June 2020).
  • 15 days Groceries to 100 families: Handed groceries – 10 kgs rice, dal, ravva, cooking oil, 3 vegetables and other items to 100 families from brahmin community at Satyannarayana puram, Vijayawada.   • 10 days Groceries to 250 senior citizens: Provided groceries to 250 senior citizens in Nutakki, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. Each person was given 5kgs rice, dal, cooking oil and other essential items to support them for 10 days. These people are old, single and do not have any income or family members to support them. Thanks to Akramuddin, Nizamuddin and others (6th May 2020).
  • 12,000 kgs of rice to 700 tribal families in Bhadradri Kothagudem: Supported 2000 people in 45 tribal hamlets in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Telangana with 12,000kgs of rice during the COVID-19 lockdown. All these families did not have ration cards. Thanks to our partners Dr. Naren, Dr. Kapil and IDO for organizing the activity. (10th April 2020).
  • 15 days Groceries to 200 migrant guest worker families: Handed groceries to 200 families in Atchampet mandal, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. Each family was given – rice, dal, cooking oil, upma ravva, 5 vegetables, and many other essential items to support them for 15 days. These are migrant agricultural workers that came to kurnool area. Due to COVID-19 lock down in India, they did not have work, couldn’t go back to their native place and were in need of food/groceries. Thanks to Narasimha Sikha, Rythu Swarajya Vedika and Mannem Badraiah garu for local coordination and support. (31st March 2020).

8 Health Kits for Tribal mobile health care, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Telangana

  • Provided 8 mother child health kits. These kits will provide vital Healthcare services to tribal families in interior forest habitations. No medical facility is within 25-30 mile radius. Each of these kits contains BP apparatus, stethoscope, digital thermometer, fetal doppler, glucometer, pulse oximeter, weighing machine, Himoglobin meter..etc. Using these kits, trained health workers go to tribal hamlets and are providing maternal and child care services to pregnant women including antenatal care, postnatal care and safe deliveries. General healthcare services are provided to seniors as well with this kit. These kits are saving lives.

Tribal Health Clinic, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Telangana

  • Supporting a tribal health clinic. Supporting a health clinic with a doctor and community health worker. Tribal people utilizing this clinic as their go to hospital for any medical needs. Basic health care is given here. Many health issues are being identified early. If it’s critical, they are admitted to the local government hospital, which could be 50-80 miles away. This clinic is serving 25-30 tribal hamlets with total population of 3000.

Tribal Schools Support (7 schools, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Telangana)

  • Supporting 8 tribal schools in Bhadradri Kothagudem area. These schools at Paalavaagu, Gandiguppa, Bhendlapaadu, Marrigudem, Jaggaram, Mathkur, and Ontigudesa tribal hamlets are providing education to 225 kids.   • Handed ASU weaving machines to 8 weaver families at Lingala Ghanapur, Janagaon district, Telangana, in association with Padma Shri awardee and inventor of this machine, Sri Chinthakindi Mallesham.

Tailoring Classes (Women Empowerment)

  • Setup a tailoring center with 7 sewing machines. An instructor was hired to teach tailoring to local women. The goal is to make all the local women learn tailoring and start stitching clothes for their family in the center. They can also start earning income by stitching clothes for other people from the village

Braille Equipment to Law Student

  • Supported Siddu Loute with 10% of the funds to procure Braille system and other equipment. Born in a poor family, Siddu faced parental neglect on account of his congenital blindness. Left home at age five. With support from community Siddu completed his primary education and pursuing LLB now. He aspires to become an IAS officer. Siddu is also known as human computer for his unique abilities in math. He can solve multiplication of any number up to 99 crores with a single digit number and memorized 45000 phone numbers

  • Facility Upgrade: Completed building renovation at Pallavi oldage home, Hyderabad. This includes flooring and tiles to an area of 1200 sqft, converting a big hall into a nice place for residents to use it as a living area as well as place to sleep.     This film depicts our farmers problems and showcases possible solutions.   • Participated in volunteering event at Second Harvest Food Bank. Sorted a record 33,000 pounds of watermelon, 4,000 pounds of carrots and 17,000 pounds of pears to distribute to 3000 families in San Francisco Bay Area. (24th August)

  • Provided Kitchen Utensils:30 very big cooking utensils and 50 serving buckets. Provided dining furniture: 40 dining tables and 200 chairs (30th March)

MITTI: Back to Roots film on Farmers

  • Co-produced “Mitti – Back to the roots” documentary film on farmers. This film depicts farmers problems and showcases possible solutions to prevent farmers suicides. (24th July)

Basket Ball Court, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh

  • Constructed a basket ball court at Z.P.High school, Yallur in Kurnool district (December).
  • This will be used to train local youth to get into police and armed forces in addition to be used by high school students. Thanks a lot to Surendranath Munagala and friends for making this happen.

Sports Facility @ High School, Nutakki, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh

  • Built a brand new sports facility at AZPH School, Nutakki, Andhra Pradesh. This facility consists of 200 meter 6 lane running track, two volley ball courts, two badminton, one kho kho, and one kabaddi courts. (19th April)

  • Provided 5 laptops and 1 tablet to ZPH School, Yellur, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh (18th February)

  • Provided scholarships to over 40 students pursuing intermediate (11th-12th) and higher studies during 2017-2018 school year. Thanks a lot Nizamuddin and family for making this happen.

Eye Camp and Free Eye Surgeries (Nutakki, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh)

  • Organized a mega eye camp at Nutakki, Guntur District in collaboration with VGR Diabetes Hospital and Sankara Eye Hospital (27th November).
  • Screened 2,000 people from rural areas for eye and diabetes issues.
  • A record 658 people were identified for cataract. Free eye surgeries were performed to these people.
  • People from 117 villages in 5 districts were benefited with these free eye surgeries.

  • Arranged free Eye Screening for all 350 kids at A.Z.P.H School (11th November)
  • Organized free Eye Screening for all kids at Matruchaya orphanage (11th November)

  • School Uniforms: Provided two pairs of school uniforms to all 42 kids at Matruchaya orphanage (27th November)
